{Newborn Photographer- Raleigh, NC} Jackson
Posted on May 18, 2012
Remember this Gorgeous Mom to be from their Maternity session?!?!?
Well they welcome their 2nd son Jackson into the world recently and I got the privilege to capture his newborn pictures. He was so sweet and perfect. He had a full head of hair and beautiful blue-grey eyes. He was a trooper and let us put him in all sorts of poses and props without waking up.
His Big Brother is very proud of him and it is the sweetest thing to see them interact like they have known each other for years.

{Newborn Photographer- Raleigh, NC} Wall Display Guide
Posted on April 20, 2012
When ordering prints from Urban Allure Photography, take a look at this Wall Display Guide for Inspiration on what size to order. I would think an 8×10 would be big enough, however once you place it over a couch or large piece of furniture you can see how small it will actually look.

{Family Photographer, Raleigh, NC} My Very Own Family Portraits
Posted on April 18, 2012
Being a photographer doesn’t mean that you have family portraits of yourself and family all over your home. One might think that but, because I am always behind the camera, I never get portraits done.
I am guilty of never having the money or time to get family portraits done, I always put it off until before I know it, my dear sweet 1st born is 2!!
My very talented friend of mine from Capture Photography and I got together to have a family session. The last time we had portraits done with the three of us (besides Holiday snapshots) was for Aiden’s Newborn session- yep NEWBORN- nearly two years ago. Shame on me! I am so glad we finally found the time to do these pictures because I am in love with them. I can’t believe I waited so long.
So if you are like me and would rather spend money on daily coffees or random home decor and clothing, I highly suggest saving some money here and there and make time to get family portraits done.
I am not saying this to generate business (but if I do from this post, I wont mind
) but as a Mother. Please take the time and money to have portraits done- because children grow up WAY TOO FAST!!!
This picture makes me laugh so hard. My boyfriend can be so photogenic and no matter how many times I tell him to just freeze and smile, he’s always got to get another word in and this is what happens…. I dread what our wedding photos will look like one day!
And finally, just for fun….Just so you can feel better when your kids do not cooperate for family pictures, this is when Aiden has just about enough. Even having two photographers in your court can’t help unhappy campers
I promise I will not wait another two years for updated family portraits.

{Maternity Photographer Raleigh, NC } The Fansler Family
Posted on April 9, 2012
This gorgeous Momma to be was stunning. She was so beautiful without even trying! Her adorable family let me take their photos recently while they await the arrival of the 4th member of their family. I was able to capture special moments of the soon to be big brother with his Mommy and Daddy in images that he can look back on when it was just the three of them
Will was photogenic and eager to let me take pictures of him. He was also very helpful while I was getting shots of just his parents. Will is already gleaming with pride of his future sibling and I know he will be an excellent Big Brother!

I got the privilege of meeting this sweet little newborn recently. She, like her Momma, has the most beautiful red hair. My photographer friend, Leigh Ann and I were able to capture a few great shots of this precious baby. She was only 12 days old during a session that took place in her stylish home. We were able to incorporate their home and nursery in these photos. Enjoy!

(Raleigh, NC Photographer} My Boys
Posted on March 14, 2012
This photo shoot is a little more personal than others because it includes my family. Adam and I have been together for 5 years and we have a 2 year old son together. This was just an average day at the park turned into a photo session. The weather was dark and gray but we managed to get some good shots. This session only lasted an hour because it started raining and getting pretty windy.
My son had so much fun at this park that he did not want to leave despite his cheeks being so red from the cold. Toddlers have no temperature gauge and don’t care if it’s too hot or too cold if they are having fun.
Here’s a sneak peak into the two people who support and encourage my photography business. I am always lugging my camera around everywhere we go for photo opportunities and they put up with it!
Enjoy!

{Raleigh, NC Photography} Full Moon
Posted on February 8, 2012
Today is my 28th birthday and a beautiful evening for a full moon. As soon as I saw this giant moon above my home, I just knew I had to grab my camera. After many attempts, I finally captured this Moon shot. It is very hard to get a good moon shot. First of all, its pitch black out! I didn’t want to fully open the aperture to let more light in because then it wouldn’t be in focus. I also didn’t want to bring my ISO too high to create a lot of noise. Since it was so dark out, and the moon was so bright my lens had a hard time focusing automatically. So I even focused manually. Its not completely as sharp as I would like…but its not bad for my first attempt!
Oh and in case you want a little history about a Full moon in the month of February it’s actually called a Snow Moon. Since the heaviest snow usually falls during this month, native tribes of the north and east most often called February’s full Moon the Full Snow Moon. Some tribes also referred to this Moon as the Full Hunger Moon, since harsh weather conditions in their areas made hunting very difficult.
Enjoy!

This family was so photogenic. Their daughter had the most beautiful eyes I have ever seen. We met at the NC State arboretum just before the leaves started to fall and were able to capture some great family portraits. There were still a lot of flowers in bloom surprisingly. This family looks like they belong in a magazine. So Beautiful.

I had the privilege of capturing these beautiful girls. It was a cold morning that warmed up gradually throughout the session. These two darling girls are so photogenic. We ventured out to Umstead Park just before all the leaves diminished from the trees. It was a beautiful place and perfect setting for family portraits.

{Raleigh, NC Photographer} The Organic Bloom Frames
Posted on December 10, 2011
I am thrilled to announce that Urban Allure Photography has partnered up with The Organic Bloom and am a proud retailer of these beautiful designer frames.
These spunky, shabby chic, elegant frames are custom made in a variety of awesome shapes, sizes, and colors that are unlike anything you’ll find at Pottery Barn, Target, or Home Goods (trust me, I’ve looked!) and are only available to registered photographers. These whimsical frames are made with wood harvested only from sustainable forests and all packing material used is recycled so you can feel “green” about ordering them.
All frames come fully assembled- no framing supplies needed. They come with a backing piece, secured by flexible tabs that can easily be lifted to remove the backing and slide your prints in place. Once you’ve done that, just bend the tabs back down and you’ll be good to go! Hanging hardware is also attached and non-glare acrylic can be ordered to guard your prints from the elements. They can also be stacked, meaning a smaller frame can be placed on the larger one to create a frame with more dimensions and color variations.
All frames are made-to-order and generally take about 15 business days from payment to shipping.
Frame openings correspond with print sizes. However, the frame itself is larger and come with a single or double stacked opening.
*Prices only include frames- Prints are al la carte
*For sizes and prices please contact me at urbanallurephotography@gmail.com

{Raleigh, NC Photographer} Lifestyle Photography
Posted on September 22, 2011
Hello! Welcome to my newest addition of galleries. I hope you enjoy what is in store. What exactly is lifestyle photography? To me, lifestyle photography is photography that captures a slice of life in un-staged, natural settings, as events are occurring. If you have worked with me before, I very seldom try to “pose” you. I love when clients shine through in photographs using their own personality. With Lifestyle photography, I aim to capture those special moments that are completely natural and unplanned. These images are special moments that are captured when the subject doesn’t realize that they are being photographed. I always try to capture these type of shots in all my sessions but I thought they deserve their very own gallery as we can all relate to candid moments.

{Senior Photographer – Raleigh, NC} Class of 2012
Posted on August 27, 2011
So I had an amazing opportunity to shoot not one, not two, but THREE gorgeous seniors this summer. Being is Senior is the greatest and most worked for accomplishment in your young life. You get to rule the school! After doing these senior sessions, I looked back at my yearbook and wished I could go back in time and redo mine. Senior Portrait photography has come along way over the years. I hope these pictures will not only be great memories for the Class of 2012 students and their families, but for other photographers to gain creativity and think outside the box. No more cheesy backdrops, no more awkward poses. Who knew some of the most simple things in our daily lives could be such awesome backdrops? I hope you enjoy these photos as much as I do. These were by far my favorite sessions to date. They made me feel so young :) Congratulations to the class of 2012, keep up the good work and you will do well in your adult life.
{Some of these shots were taken in Raleigh, NC and some were taken in my hometown in Western NY}

{Raleigh, NC Photographer} A Boy & His Red Wagon
Posted on June 16, 2011
After searching for months for a red wagon, I finally found one reasonably priced on Craigslist. So I had to get it. Aiden immediately fell in love with his new ride. I had to get a few images of him with it. PS the big bear in the wagon in there with him was my bear that I’ve had since I was one, I’m glad he loves it as much as I once did!
While here, I found 7, yes 7 four leaf clovers!!!
For some reason Aiden did not like them near him…..

{Raleigh, NC Photographer} Could this little girl be any more beautiful?
Posted on May 9, 2011
This is my friends daughter. She was born exactly one week after my son, Aiden, and we’ve tried to get them together as often as possible since. Each time we all get together it takes a little time for them to warm up to eachother, but not this time. They instantly remembered eachother and my son was trying to “woo” her with his dance moves. She was not impressed but he kept trying. It was the cutest thing I’ve ever seen. Once we brought out the giant blue ball, the fun began. Enjoy!

{Raleigh, NC Photographer} My Porteen Gear Camera Bag Review
Posted on April 30, 2011
Some women love jewelry, some love shoes, my love is bags and purses! I love shopping for them and checking myself out in the mirror while wearing one. As I am walking to the cashier, I put the bag on my shoulder as if its already my latest addition and I look in every possible mirror before finally reaching the counter to purchase my new great find. I’m a sucker for pockets! If a purse has mulitple pockets, I’m sold! I have spent plenty of dollars on bags, purses, totes, diaper bags, makeup bags, you name it. Then along came my DSLR camera; my second baby (next to my son). Of course I have to have the best bag to carry and protect it. So the search began.
I spent weeks prior to my camera purchase browsing bags. I read many reviews and pretty much obsessed over finding the perfect new home for my second baby. I found and fell in love with Jo Totes. I just had to have the bronze rose bag. It was beautiful and totally my style. My boyfriend bought it for me for our 4 year anniversary
I love it, however it is huge! Great for weddings or travel when you want to carry all your gear and some extras. I needed something smaller, for everyday use. I have a 1 year old so I am always on the go and I have lots of moments to capture.
A new obsession…a smaller camera bag with style. Again, I spent weeks looking at camera bags. I’ve ordered a camera strap, lens bling, and diaper bag from Etsy, so I looked there for a camera bag. Who know there were so many choices? I finally came across Porteen Gear. I immediately fell in love with the bag once I saw it near some cowboy boots. I put off buying one for a few months. I kept talking myself out of it since I already had a perfectly fine camera bag and a new one would be at least $100. My friend happened to ask me about camera bags, so I steered her towards all sorts of sites. When she told me she had ordered a camera bag, she started describing it and I immediately remembered the awesome bag near the cowboy boots. She ordered one! After a few weeks she finally got it! It was beautiful, hippyish (is that even a word?), and totally her style.
I finally decided to take the plunge and order one for my self. I waited, and watched my email and Etsy account daily for an update on when it would be sent. I finally arrived about 2 1/2 weeks later. I was wrapped in plastic which I appreciated to protect it from the elements. One I removed the plastic it was wrapped like gift with tissue paper, a ribbon, and Robyn’s (owner of Porteen Gear) logo. She obviously cared about the packaging and that meant something to me since I have a huge love for bags.
After carefully taking the tissue paper off, I got a glimpse of my favorite bag yet! I love it. Of course I immediately filled it with my gear and modeled it around the house. It was so light compared to my Jo Tote filled with ALL my gear. There was a note about the care for the leather and canvas. Inside it was filled with bubble wrap (bonus!) to give it that filled bag feel. In the zippered pocket there was a small zippered pouch and leather business card holder. More bonuses! Did I mention I love surprises as much as I love bags and pockets?
Inside I have my Canon 50d DSLR with my nifty fifty attached. Beside it is my 28-135mm lens. I also have my memory card case, lightscoop, extra lens caps, polarizer, battery charger, and usb mount. All that and I still have plenty of room for another lens, diapers, wallet, etc. This bag is perfect for your photography gear and must haves. Please check out my pics of my newest edition. (Don’t mind the quality of the pictures they are super blurry, I used my point and shoot camera so you can see my camera fitting nicely in its new home).
There you go! Make sure you check out Porteen Gear among the other links listed in this post for great products. I hope this helps with anyone’s decision in purchasing one of this AWESOME bags!

{Raleigh, NC Photographer} My Little Baby Owl!
Posted on April 27, 2011
This photoshoot is dedicated to my sister, who loves owls (she’s in the post below this one!) any whooo (pun intended) my son and I had an impromptu shoot this weekend. I see this shot done many times on newborns, but I thought why not try it on my toddler? He hated the feathers, he didn’t want to keep the hat on, and it was the quickest shoot I’ve ever had!! It took me about 30-40 minutes to set up and only 2-3 minutes to try to get a good shot. Aiden was not having it. Fortunately I was able to capture a few good ones. Here’s to my little hootie whooo!!

{Raleigh, NC Photographer} My Beautiful Sister
Posted on April 11, 2011
My sister and I found an old, abandoned, creepy house. We suddenly went back in time to our younger years and started exploring. I had my camera in hand, I love old, creepy houses. Who knew an abandoned home would be such a good place to take pictures. All of the following photos were taken there. We felt like kids finding a buried treasure. Not much was left behind besides bottles and random things. Nothing too exciting! I made her pose for some pictures, senior style! Enjoy
